RESTORE™ Practical Framework

Translating the principles of Restoration Psychology® into intentional practices that strengthen restorative capacity.

The RESTORE™ Practical Framework is a flexible, evidence-informed approach designed to help individuals, relationships, families, organizations, and communities intentionally cultivate the conditions that support restoration, adaptation, renewal, and healthy functioning.

What is RESTORE™?

The RESTORE™ Practical Framework is the practical application component of the Restoration Psychology® ecosystem.

While the 5R Restoration Model® explains how restoration occurs, RESTORE™ provides practical guidance for intentionally strengthening restorative capacity through seven coordinated principles that can be adapted across a variety of life circumstances and settings.

Rather than functioning as a rigid checklist, RESTORE™ is designed to support thoughtful, flexible application based on an individual's or system's unique needs, strengths, resources, and current circumstances.

Why RESTORE™?

Restoration rarely occurs through insight alone.

People often recognize that change is needed but remain uncertain about where to begin or how to move forward intentionally. RESTORE™ bridges the gap between understanding and action by providing seven coordinated principles that help cultivate restorative capacity over time.

Each principle addresses a distinct function involved in restoration. Together, they create a practical framework for reducing unnecessary burdens, increasing awareness, supporting meaningful change, strengthening available resources, renewing depleted capacities, and sustaining restorative action.

Why These 7 Principles?

The seven RESTORE™ principles were selected because they address seven distinct functions involved in intentional restoration:

• Excessive load
• Accurate awareness
• Unnecessary complexity
• Obstructive patterns
• Resource alignment
• Depletion
• Sustained agency

Together, these functions strengthen restorative capacity by helping individuals and systems create space, understand present conditions, make meaningful changes, use resources effectively, renew depleted capacities, and continue restorative action across changing circumstances.

Restorative Capacity

The central construct cultivated through RESTORE™

Restorative capacity is the capacity of an individual, relationship, family, organization, or community to intentionally engage in practices that promote restoration, adaptation, renewal, and healthy functioning across changing circumstances.

RESTORE™ practices strengthen restorative capacity.

Restorative capacity supports restorative functioning.

Restorative functioning contributes to restoration.
